Cynthia Wylie-" I like the tropical foliage of Southern California because it is so strange-looking and
colorful. The plants seem to have a life of their own and I feel like they are living after I paint them.  My
latest series of paintings, that I call 'Science Fiction Landscapes,' represent landscapes that are an aerial
view of what I fantasize a close, parallel universe might look like, as well as the characters that may inhabit
