LA Vs. WAR Returns

Three-Day Art Exhibition Featuring Renowned Artists, Peace Activists,

Workshops, Teach-Ins, Live Art & Music

(Los Angeles) - LA Vs. WAR returns with LA Vs. WAR II: Art for Peace in
the

Hope Era – a three day massive group art exhibition for peace that will
mark

the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 in Downtown Los Angeles at The Vortex

Philanthropic Space.

This year’s event will feature over 100 contributing artists including video

installations and live performance art. There will be over 30 DJs, live
painting

and t-shirting printing, a community peace altar, laser graffiti, peace
photo

portraits, and stencil art workshops, all supporting the pro-peace/antiwar

theme.

A large selection of fine art, limited-edition prints and posters will be on
view

chronicling the creative responses to the current military conflicts in the
Middle

East/North Africa/Central Asia, The Global War on Terror, the Drug
Wars and

other wars on marginalized peoples.

Teach-ins will be held with LA Vs. War grassroots activist-partners Iraq

Veterans Against the War (IVAW), Code Pink, Youth Justice Coalition,

Antiwar.com, Center for the Study of Political Graphics, Campaign to
Rescind

Special Order 11 and Californians United for a Responsible Budget
(CURB) in

an effort to inform and energize attendees in transforming their own lives
and

communities.

In the days leading up to the exhibition, LA Vs. WAR will work with
prominent

muralists, to create public Peace murals around the community similar to
the

piece running at the LA Vs. WAR’s venue entitled "LA Madre Vs. WAR"
by

WERC, GERA, Contra and JC.

event under the name Vs. WAR. The show will evolve and travel to other
cities

bringing its unique model of creative resistance and collaboration to
other

communities. Originally organized out of the Yo! Peace poster show, the
first

LA Vs. WAR welcomed 6000 attendees and made a national impression.

About John Carr / LA Vs. War Creator & Curator

John Carr is an internationally acclaimed artist, designer and curator
based in

downtown Los Angeles. He is the curator of Yo! What Happened to
Peace? a

traveling peace/antiwar poster exhibition and editor of a poster art book
by the

same name. In 2008 Carr created LA Vs. War, earning the Center for
the

Study of Political Graphics "Art as a Hammer" award for his
achievements.
