The Martini Show - The Martini Glass as Art
Altered Space Gallery is proud to present, The Martini Show - The Martini
Glass as Art, curated by Thomas Mann. The exhibition includes 50 artists
from the US and Canada, each recognized for excellence in their respective
fields. This exhibition will run June 24 through July 24, 2006. An opening
reception will be held on June 24th from 6:30pm to 10:00pm.
The participating artists have been invited to attack, attach, embellish,
conceptualize, restructure or otherwise enhance a simple stainless steel
martini glass. The artists have demonstrated that the path to interpretation is
a wide one. They have all explored a wide variety of techniques while using
an interesting variety of materials in their creations. This invitational show
includes artists from various disciplines including sculpture, experimental,
ceramic, glass, encaustic, found object assemblage and metalsmithing. With
that, this show is one of variety and artistry that explores the concept of the
Martini - a simple drink but one with deep cultural roots.
Altered Space Gallery features both functional and non-functional work
