National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression, and the Criminalization of a Generation
October 22nd, 2011, 1pm Gather at Pershing Square, 3pm March, 4 pm Rally at
Mac Arthur Park
In poor, Black, and Latino neighborhoods across the U.S. the systemic
repression, criminalization, and brutality have amounted to thousands of Stolen
Lives at the hands of police. The brutality is imposed for their perceived
status whether it is for their socioeconomic, migratory, mental health, racial,
gender, and/or sexual identity. The echoing response when a death results is
the usual: \"it appeared as if they had a weapon in their hand.\"
On October 22nd join the families of those whose lives have been stolen, the
youth who are criminalized, and those whose voices they wish to repress.
Their stories cannot remain in the shadows. Silence is not an option.
RESISTANCE MATTERS! FIGHT BACK!
Wear black in solidarity.
