Del Mar 1993

This is a great story. SO this wall on the tracks in Del Mar, just north of San Diego, was covered with crappy graffiti - toy shit, van halen throwups, etc. I buffed the whole wall and did 2 pieces one said 'The Chozen' and the other said "The Chosen Few". Together, they were 9 ft high and over 120ft long. About four hours before completeing "The Chosen Few" spell out, I got busted and hauled into the sherrifs office for a 594 and tresspass on railroad property. My friends came and picked me up after processing and, conveniently enough, the paint store was right next to the Sherrifs Dept. Anyhow, I bought more paint, paid some friends to act as look out, and proceeded to finish my piece. So as the court date approached, I had already gotten press in the local paper about fighting the accusation on the grounds that i was beautifying not destroying. I needed proof, and that proof came about a week before my court date when a Church Group painted over my pieces. Within the days that followed, a bunch of throwups, tags, and other crap appeared on the wall. But a few tags wouldnt convince a jury so I hatched a plan of EPIC proportions. 2 days before my court appearance, I went down to the tracks one night and added to the graff that was already there the most heinous, racist things I could think of in bright red paint. Swastikas, Racial Slurs, whatever. I took pictures of that stuff and, when i went to court I had my pieces all blown up and framed and I had a stack of flicks of the swastikas and stuff. I told the DA " I'm not making a deal with you." And he was all threatening me and whatnot. So I'm like here is the evidence, and I hand him the stack of racist graffiti. He's horrified and is like "YOU PAINTED THIS??!!" And I was like,"No. Thats what I painted over., Here is my work - and I pull out these framed, matted pictures of my piece. I say "You find a jury that will convict me of vandalism for painting over that racist stuff. Im ready to go to court. lets go." Needless to say, they made a deal. I had 30 days to buff the wall white, as I had told them it was covered with graffiti again, and all charges would be dropped. Well, of course I waited til like the 28th day to go buff the wall but when i got there, the same Church Group was already there just finishing their buff. I walked down, took a few pictures of the white wall, took tthe flicks to court and I was done. I beat the system again. HAHAHAHA
